About the Role

Developing and monitoring a marketing and recruitment strategy to increase the number of approved foster carers in LB Haringey involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including fostering agencies, media outlets, local businesses, and internal council teams. The strategy aims to generate positive media coverage, identify public relations opportunities, and participate in promotional activities to raise awareness and attract potential foster carers. Ensuring accurate and up-to-date Fostering Service web pages and evaluating recruitment activities for cost-effectiveness are crucial. This includes sending feedback surveys to prospective and newly approved foster carers and analysing the data to refine strategies. Efficient management information systems and flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends for meetings and events, are essential for engaging the community and supporting foster care recruitment and retention efforts.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role should have a background in recruitment and marketing, with relevant professional qualifications or a degree-level education. They must be adept at keeping abreast of current fostering recruitment patterns and trends on both local and national levels. Exceptional communication skills are crucial, particularly in producing high-quality written material for media and publications. The candidate should demonstrate a solid understanding of equalities issues and anti-discriminatory practices. Strong initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines are essential. Additionally, a commitment to continuous personal and professional development is necessary to stay updated and effective in the role.
Experience in developing comprehensive marketing plans, conducting market research, and performing competitor analysis to inform future strategies is vital. The candidate should be skilled in informing and implementing integrated campaigns within time and budget constraints. Organizing events and promotions, developing internal communication channels, and forging links with key stakeholders are also key responsibilities. They should have experience sourcing, negotiating, and booking advertising within budgets, liaising with suppliers or internal departments for literature and publicity production, and providing creative briefs for agencies and media outlets. Evaluating marketing and recruitment campaigns to assess their effectiveness and having an understanding of fostering issues within the public and private sectors are also critical components of the role.
